A single headshot against a plain background used to be enough. It told people your name was real and your face matched your LinkedIn profile. But if you're running a business where people are choosing to work with you, your personality, your approach, your team. A headshot isn’t enough. People want to get a sense of who you are before they pick up the phone. A single frame can't tell them that story.
A headshot confirms you exist. Brand photography tells people what it's like to work with you.
If you're the face of your business, potential clients are already making decisions about you before they ever reach out. They're looking at your website, your socials, your Google profile - and they're forming an impression fast. Are you warm and approachable? Serious and professional? A collaborative team or a focused solo operator? A basic headshot leaves all of that unanswered.
People engage with people. They want to know who they’ll be dealing with. What your vibe is, how you work and whether you feel like someone they can trust. That sense of familiarity matters. When your visuals reflect how you actually work and who you really are, people stop hesitating and they reach out.

Brand photography isn't about having more photos. It's about having the right photos. Photos that do real work across your website, social media, proposals, and press.
Here's what that looks like in practice:

The difference between brand photos that feel real and ones that feel staged usually comes down to what happens before the shoot.
For any session to produce images that actually reflect who you are and what your business is about, there's a lot of thinking to do upfront. That starts with questions - who are you, what are you about, who are you trying to attract, and how do you want your clients to feel?
From there, it's about making deliberate decisions:
When that groundwork is laid properly, the shoot day runs efficiently, and you can stop thinking about logistics and just focus on showing up well.

One of the things I focus on with every session is making sure everyone who's going to be in front of the camera actually wants to be there and knows how to prepare.
When people feel informed and ready - when they know what to wear, what to expect, and what we're trying to create together - they show up differently. They're more relaxed, more themselves, and the photos reflect that.
The shoot day should feel focused and manageable, not chaotic. A clear shot list built around real use cases means we're not winging it. We're working through a plan that was built with purpose, and that efficiency means you walk away with images you can actually use - not a bloated gallery of maybes.
The goal is an authentic set of photos that feel like you. That reflect the quality of your business. Your team, culture and overall vibe. Photos you’ll want to share.

Your photos should represent who you are now. Not who you were a few years ago. If they’re out of date, or don’t feel like you anymore that could be working against you. This could be the subtle disconnect that makes people hesitate.
Brand photography, done with intention and preparation, removes that hesitation. It gives people a clear, accurate picture of who you are, and what working with you looks, and feels like. You build trust. You connect.

If you're based in Sa and your current imagery isn't reflecting the business you've built, let's talk about what brand photography could look and feel like for you.
At Palms Photography, the process starts with the right questions. So the photos we create are built around your business, your clients, and how you want to be seen. Not just what looks good, but what works for you.
Get in touch, and we'll figure out what you actually need.

How long does a photography session take?
Anywhere from half a day to a couple of days. It depends on how much we need to cover (locations, team size, etc.)We’ll tailor it to what you need, and with a clear shot list and runsheet on the day, it’s smooth sailing.
What if I hate having my photo taken?
Perfect. That’s basically half the people I work with. Working closely with real people, building rapport, settling nerves to create a safe, natural and relaxed space. Where people feel comfortable enough to be themselves. This is what I love to do.
How long until I get the photos?
You'll have a proof gallery to look at within the first week. After you make your selections, the final images should come through within about 10 business days.
How will I receive my photos?
Delivered via a private online gallery. You'll get web-ready files for your website and socials, plus high-res versions for print.
Do I need to be in the photos?
Not necessarily. Some people are the face of their business, others prefer to stay behind the scenes. We'll work out what fits.
